The blue ottoman in our living room is where the action is. Where cars and trucks are shared. Or not shared. Depending on whether big brother “needs some space.”

As Christmas 2023 drew to a close, I wanted to capture the vantage point that had become so common. Henry standing tall. Emerson on his knees. Little brother imitating big brother’s every movement.

Theresa and I silently celebrating behind them, soaking in the moment of peaceful, tree-lit collaboration, knowing a stiff elbow could be lurking around the corner.
